The CD-ROM Dolf Henkes (1903-1989) - oeuvre catalogue - and the website www.dolfhenkes.nl were first produced on the occasion of Henkes' centenary in November, 2003. Both publications include the greater part of Dolf Henkes' body of work. This event was an initiative of the Dolf Henkes Centennial Foundation: Erik Hammerstein, Laurent Nouwen, Evert Rodrigo, Karel Schampers AND Hans Walgenbach.

This event also included the publication of a monograph (plus CD-ROM) as well as four exhibitions of Henkes' works in Rotterdam museums: Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Historisch Museum Rotterdam, Maritiem Museum Rotterdam and the Chabot Museum. In addition, the Dolf Henkes award was brought into being in mid-November 2003 for young artists showing affinity with Rotterdam and/or Curacao.

Henkes' artistic estate - approximately 4,100 works of art - in the collection of the Instituut Collectie Nederland was catalogued and photographed by the people working at that institution. The Dolf Henkes Centennial Foundation ordered a dedicated commission: an inventory of his work in institutional and private collections - approximately 900 objects - including descriptions and photographs of these works of art. Research into and stock-taking of Henkes' works in private and public collections was carried out by: Nathalie Menke, The Hague.
